Happy Friday! I had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Deanna Wilkinson from The Ohio State University last week. We had a wonderful chat and exchanged lots of helpful resources for our students. She has given me permission to share this AMAZING directory of professional organizations relevant to our field. She and her students collaborated to create it, and I am so grateful because this is something that has been on my to-do list for years now. It truly showcases the multidisciplinary, multi-professional nature of family science.

Connecting with a professional organization is a great way to begin networking and carving a niche for yourself as you prepare for the job market. (Also, typically there is a student/new professional rate to join at a lower cost.) Check it out this resource on Padlet: https://padlet.com/wilkinson110/professional-organizations-hdfs-related-careers-falf7by89308qclj

Also, keep in mind that many of these organizations will have regional, state, or even city affiliates that also provide options for networking and professional development. For instance, the National Council on Family Relations has local affiliates, too. Consider joining both.

Thank you for sharing, Dr. Wilkinson!
